The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted claims that it has set a date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which includes voter transfers and the replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards.
The clarification came in a statement shared via X on Sunday by Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman.
The Commission urged members of the public to disregard a widely circulated anonymous message which falsely claimed that CVR would recommence on May 27, 2025.
INEC reaffirmed that no such date has been fixed, and any updates regarding the resumption of registration services would be communicated officially through its verified channels.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that it has not yet announced any date for the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration, transfer, and replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards,” the statement read.
The Commission emphasised that it would announce the resumption at the appropriate time, and such information would be disseminated through its verified social media platforms and other authorised means.
