The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, marking the start of its second phase.
The resumption took effect on Monday, following the conclusion of the first phase on December 10, 2025.
INEC had launched online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, before commencing physical registration at designated centres nationwide on August 25.

In a statement released in December, the commission disclosed that 9,891,801 Nigerians began online pre-registration during the first phase. As of November 28, 2025, INEC had fully completed 2,572,054 registrations, including 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 completed in person.
INEC explained that it used the interval between the two phases to carry out statutory duties, including the display of the voters’ register for claims and objections.

According to the commission, it conducted the display exercise in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022 from December 15 to 21, 2025, at local government offices where CVR took place.
The electoral body urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the exercise to register, transfer their voting locations, or update their personal information.
It also encouraged those who registered earlier to verify their details, report errors, and object to the inclusion of ineligible or deceased persons on the register.
However, INEC said it has suspended CVR activities in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral processes.
The commission added that it will announce new dates for the resumption of registration in both areas later.
