A new team of four astronauts is scheduled to arrive at the International Space Station (ISS) this Saturday afternoon.
Launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 on Friday, the Crew-12 mission is tasked with restoring the station to full capacity following the historic medical evacuation of the previous crew in January.
The international team, commanded by marine biologist Jessica Meir, consists of Jessica Meir & Jack Hathaway (USA), Sophie Adenot (France) – testing AI-guided medical ultrasound systems – and Andrey Fedyaev (Russia) – a veteran replacement for a previously sidelined cosmonaut.
Over their eight-month stay, the crew will focus on the biological effects of microgravity and advanced technological trials.

This mission is particularly poignant as the ISS enters its final years; the legendary lab, a symbol of post-Cold War cooperation, is slated for a controlled deorbit into the Pacific Ocean in 2030.
Despite geopolitical tensions on Earth, the station remains a rare hub of collaborative science.
