Inzaghi Rejects Saudi Links, Focused on Inter’s Champions League Final

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has brushed off speculation linking him with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, just days before his team faces Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Despite widespread reports of a potential two-year, €50 million deal, Inzaghi stated it would be “mad” to consider his future before such a significant match.

“It’s the same thing every year,” Inzaghi told reporters, highlighting consistent interest from clubs in Italy and abroad throughout his career, including his time at Lazio and Inter.

He emphasised that any discussions about his future would occur only after the final, with the sole focus being “what’s best for Inter.”

Inzaghi, whose team narrowly missed out on the Serie A title and exited the Coppa Italia in the semi-finals, acknowledged the immense pressure of the upcoming Champions League final.

This marks Inter’s second appearance in European football’s top club competition final in three seasons under his leadership.

He expressed excitement for the match, noting that it’s an opportunity every coach dreams of.

The final also presents a chance for a family achievement; Inzaghi’s older brother, Filippo, won the Champions League twice as a player with AC Milan.

When asked about the greater accomplishment, Simone jokingly said he’d “ask my parents and Pippo.”

Regarding team fitness, Inzaghi confirmed that star striker Lautaro Martinez is “100 per cent fit” for the final.

Martinez is expected to partner with Marcus Thuram, who is also eager to make his mark, hoping to surpass his father Lilian Thuram’s club accolades, which include a UEFA Cup win.

Marcus, who grew up in Paris, added a personal touch to the final, stating it’s “special” to play against the team from his childhood city.
