Iran Arrests 30 Over Alleged Wartime Spying

Members of the US Air Force (USAF) prepare munitions at RAF Fairford in south-west England on March 10, 2026, after USAF B-1 Lancer bomber jets and Air Force Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bombers landed at the RAF base. Fairford is one of two bases, along with the Diego Garcia facility in the Indian Ocean, that the UK has given the US permission to use for "specific defensive operations into Iran" to destroy Iranian missiles at source, the British defence minister said in a statement. Iran’s intelligence ministry announced on Tuesday that 30 people had been arrested on accusations of espionage on the 11th day of the Middle East war, including one foreign national.

The foreigner, whose nationality was not disclosed, “was spying on behalf of two Persian Gulf countries in the name of the American-Zionist enemy” and was apprehended in northeastern Iran, the ministry said in a statement published by the judiciary’s Mizan Online news portal.

The suspect is accused of “transmitting to the enemy information about the location and movements of police and army forces” as well as details of military installations, according to the ministry. Authorities did not reveal when the arrest took place.
