Fresh explosions have rocked Tehran following Iran’s missile strikes on Israeli targets, including areas near Haifa and Tel Aviv. According to medics and media outlets, the attacks have left at least ten people dead.
Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi justified the strikes, stating: “The Iranian response will stop when Israel halts its attacks on Iran.”
Germany, France, and Britain have expressed readiness to engage in urgent dialogue with Tehran. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said the three European powers are prepared to hold immediate talks with Iran regarding its nuclear programme in a bid to ease the escalating tensions across the Middle East.
Meanwhile, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noel Barrot, was present at a humanitarian conference for Gaza held in Cairo on December 2, 2024, underscoring Europe’s growing concern over the intensifying Israel-Hamas conflict.
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement confirming its involvement in the strikes on Israel, claiming military targets were hit and warning of further action if provoked.
“In response to the Israeli aggression, the IRGC launched a large-scale drone and missile operation targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centres,” the statement said.
It further revealed that “Iranian air defence systems intercepted three cruise missiles, 10 drones, and dozens of small hostile micro air vehicles in the affected regions.”
