Iran Fires Back at Trump’s Warning, Calls for US to Stop Killing Yemenis

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi responded sharply to US President Donald Trump’s recent threat, stating that the US no longer has the authority to dictate the foreign policy of Iran. Araghchi emphasized that this era ended in 1979, following the Iranian Revolution.

The Iranian minister criticised the Biden administration for its unprecedented $23 billion support to Israel last year, accusing the US of enabling the killing of over 60,000 Palestinians and holding Washington responsible for the ongoing violence.

Araghchi directly addressed the US demand to cease support for the Houthi rebels in Yemen, urging the US to “end support for Israel’s genocide and terrorism” and to stop the killing of Yemen’s people.

Trump had announced a US military offensive against the Houthis and warned Iran to halt its support for the group, stating that America would hold Iran fully accountable and not show kindness in its response, a threat the US has acted upon with its deadly strike reportedly killing at least 31 Yemenis.
