Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has warned the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the UN Security Council of the dangers of a United States attack on its nuclear facilities.
According to Araghchi, the United States and Israel’s attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites could result in radioactive contamination as well as severe humanitarian and environmental consequences.
“Attacks on Iran’s nuclear power plant in Bushehr, intended solely for peaceful purposes under IAEA supervision, expose the entire region to a serious threat of radioactive contamination with grave humanitarian and environmental consequences, and therefore must not go unanswered or uninvestigated,” Araghchi wrote in the letter.

The Foreign Minister noted that the United States and Israel have attacked the country and inflicted war on it twice in less than nine months.
Araghchi added that the country’s nuclear facilities were attacked and bombed on those occasions, adding that the attacks are a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 487 (1981) and all IAEA decisions and resolutions.
“In both cases, Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities were attacked and bombed,” he said.
He added that the United States and Israel attacked multiple nuclear facilities seven times in March.
Araghchi listed the following as the nuclear facilities that have been targeted since the conflict began on February 28:
- The nuclear facility in Natanz was attacked twice on March 1, 2026.
- A site located just 350 meters from the operating nuclear power plant in Bushehr was struck on March 17, 2026.
- Multiple points at the Natanz nuclear facility were bombed on March 21, 2026.
- A projectile hit an area adjacent to the Bushehr nuclear power plant on March 24, 2026.
- The Bushehr nuclear power plant was attacked for the third time on March 27, 2026.
- The heavy water production plant in Khondab was targeted on March 27, 2026.
- The Shahid Ahmadi-Roshan uranium processing facility was bombed on March 27, 2026.
