The Israeli military announced on Monday that it successfully targeted and killed the head of a specialised unit within Iran’s Quds Force.

The operation, conducted by the Israeli Air Force on Sunday, took place in Tehran and resulted in the death of Asghar Bagheri.

Bagheri had served as the commander of the Quds Force’s Special Operations Unit (840) since 2019, acting as a pivotal figure in the Revolutionary Guards’ overseas operations branch.

According to an official military statement, Bagheri had occupied several high-ranking roles within the organisation over the last few years.

Israeli authorities alleged that he was directly involved in coordinating and executing attacks against both Israeli and American individuals on a global scale.

This high-profile strike marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, directly hitting the leadership of Iran’s most elite foreign military wing.
