The Israeli Air Force conducted a series of precision strikes overnight, targeting military infrastructure at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport.
According to a statement from the Israeli military, the operation successfully dismantled 16 aircraft belonging to the IRGC’s Quds Force, the unit responsible for Iran’s foreign operations.
Officials alleged that the airport serves as a primary hub for the Revolutionary Guards to funnel weapons and currency to regional proxies, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In addition to the transport fleet, the raid targeted several Iranian fighter jets that Israel claimed posed a direct threat to its aircraft operating within Iranian airspace.
This mission was part of a broader offensive involving more than 80 fighter jets, which struck various military sites, missile launchers, and command centres across Tehran and central Iran.
One of the primary targets included a Revolutionary Guards military academy that Israel designated as a “lawful military objective” due to its use in active operations.
These strikes represent one of the most significant aerial campaigns since the regional conflict escalated on February 28.
Additional targets identified by the military included underground command bunkers and missile storage facilities, aimed at neutralising Iran’s ability to launch retaliatory fire.
This latest wave of attacks follows the historic opening of the war, which saw an unprecedented 200 Israeli jets participate in the largest raid in the air force’s history.
