Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reportedly silenced during his ongoing corruption trial on Monday when the judge instructed him to remain seated and refrain from speaking as chaos erupted in the courtroom.
The hearing, which marked the tenth session of his trial, began with shouting as Netanyahu’s defence team objected to the lengthy proceedings, citing security concerns related to the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Netanyahu, who is accused of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three separate cases, expressed surprise at the judge’s orders. The charges revolve around allegations of accepting gifts in exchange for favours and manipulating media coverage to improve his public image.
