Ivorian International Eric Bailly Hit With Seven-Game Ban

Ivorian and Marseille centre-back Eric Bailly has been handed a seven-game ban for a high challenge that hospitalised an opponent.

The French Football Federation‘s Disciplinary Committee decided to suspend the Marseille star for seven games, according to the French publication La Provence.

Following the incident, the 28-year-old has already completed a two-game suspension in Ligue 1.

Marseille feared a severe punishment, but they did not anticipate it would be seven games because Bailly had no intention of hurting N’Diaye.

Pablo Longoria, the president of Marseille, was incensed that his club had not been informed of the alleged suspension and responded by saying that he had not been informed of it.

“If our player is truly suspended for 7 games, it would above all be very serious if some people leaked this decision to the press without even bothering to having notified the sanction and warned the club concerned,” he said.

“It is a lack of respect,” he added.

Bailly has made 12 appearances for Marseille after being sent out on loan in the summer after sliding down Man United’s center-back pecking order.
