The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the rescheduling of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,997 affected candidates across the country.
The process began on Thursday morning, following an announcement by JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, during a press briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday.
Oloyede acknowledged that the recently concluded UTME was marred by technical and administrative errors, which impacted a significant number of candidates. According to him, a total of 206,610 candidates were affected across 65 centres in Lagos alone, while 173,387 candidates were affected in 92 centres within the Owerri zone, covering the five states of the South East.

The board has since initiated arrangements to ensure the affected candidates are given a fair opportunity to retake the exam under improved conditions.
He also said, “The affected candidates will start getting text messages for reschedule starting from tomorrow. I apologise, I take full responsibility.”
However, according to a reprinted examination slip obtained by PUNCH, one of the affected candidates has been rescheduled to sit for the exam on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12 noon. The new venue is a centre located in the Igando community, within the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
