Japanese golfer Yosuke Asaji secured a historic victory at the Singapore Open, becoming the first player from his country to win the event since 1976.

Asaji defeated South Korea’s Wang Jeung-hun in a playoff at the Singapore Island Country Club after both finished regulation play tied at 19-under par.

The 32-year-old clinched the title with a six-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole, following Wang’s error of hitting his second shot into the water, resulting in a bogey.

Asaji, who shot a final-round 67, expressed his delight, calling it his “first win overseas,” a dream achievement.

This result, the penultimate event of the 2025 International Series, moves the in-form Asaji up to second place in the series standings, behind Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent.

The top two players in these standings will earn a coveted spot in the 2026 LIV Golf League.
