Jordan said its military intercepted 79 missiles and drones launched from Iran during the second week of the ongoing Middle East conflict.

The war began on February 28 following joint strikes by the United States and Israel that reportedly killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and quickly escalated across the region.

In a statement on Saturday, Jordan’s armed forces said that 85 missiles and drones had been fired directly from Iran toward the kingdom during the second week of the fighting, allegedly targeting strategic locations.

The military said its air force successfully intercepted 79 incoming projectiles, while one missile and five drones managed to land in Jordanian territory.

A spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate of Jordan also said debris from 93 rockets and drones fell across several provinces of the country during the same period, leaving nine people injured.

Earlier in the conflict, Jordan had accused Iran of launching a similar wave of attacks. Authorities said 119 missiles and drones were fired toward the kingdom during the first week of the war, targeting critical infrastructure.
