Liverpool has revealed plans for several tributes to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva during their match against Preston on Sunday, marking the first game since the tragic passing of the Portuguese international.
Jota and Silva lost their lives in a car accident in northern Spain on July 3. As a result, Liverpool’s pre-season training was postponed until Tuesday.
Nonetheless, the match against the English Championship club Preston will proceed as planned, kicking off Liverpool’s pre-season friendly matches.
Before the 1400GMT kickoff, Liverpool’s anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone” will be performed, and Preston will place a wreath in front of the away fans.

Following that, a minute’s silence will be held, with digital tributes shown on the stadium’s big screen and pitchside advertising boards; players from both sides will also don black armbands.
Jota, a father of three, was married to his longtime partner Rute Cardoso only 11 days before the tragedy, and he died alongside his brother after the Lamborghini they were in veered off the road and ignited.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot, along with several first-team players, including captain Virgil van Dijk, attended Jota’s funeral last Saturday.
