JUST IN: Lagos Speaker Meranda Resigns as House Reconvenes

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has resigned from her position on Monday March 3, 2025.

Her resignation is expected to pave the way for the reinstatement of the impeached Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, who, according to sources, may also step down in the coming days to allow for the emergence of a new Speaker.

The development follows a high-level meeting held on Sunday night at Lagos House, Marina, attended by members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and lawmakers.

The Deputy Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon resigned his position. The Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Setonji David resigned. And nominated as Deputy Chief Whip.
