The Kaduna State House of Assembly has recommended the prosecution of the immediate-past governor of the state, Nasir el-Rufai, for alleged abuse of office and money laundering.
This comes after the investigation carried out by the ad-hoc committee set up by the Kaduna State House of Assembly presided over by Henry Zacharia.
The report submitted by Zacharia on Wednesday suggested that most of the loans obtained under el-Rufai’s administration were not used for their proposed purpose, and in some cases, due process was not followed in securing the loans.
The committee, therefore, recommended that the former governor and other indicted members of his cabinet be investigated and prosecuted by relevant security and anti-graft agencies for abuse of office, diversion of public funds and money laundering.
