Senator Katung Defects From PDP to APC

The Senator representing Kaduna South, Sunday Katung, has announced his move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Katung said this decision followed several weeks of discussions with his constituents, political figures, family, and associates.

He said this decision was one of the toughest yet crucial in his political journey, adding that it was motivated by a commitment to serve his constituents more efficiently and to ensure their perspectives are considered at the highest levels of governance.

“This realignment is driven by a genuine desire to serve our people more effectively and ensure that our voices are heard and respected at the highest decision-making tables where the destinies of our communities are being shaped,” he said.

He also noted that his choice was influenced by his constituents’ requests for him to collaborate closely with President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna Governor Uba Sani to boost development in the region. Katung urged his supporters and political allies to prevent politics from dividing them.

Katung’s defection follows that of Sunday Agadaga, the senator representing Bayelsa East, who also left the PDP to join the APC.

This move has increased the ruling party’s total to 78 senators, surpassing the two-thirds supermajority in the Senate.
