The Kano State government has officially received a report from a fact-finding committee tasked with investigating allegations that a state commissioner helped secure bail for a suspected drug baron.

A statement issued by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the state’s Director General of Media and Publicity, on Monday, August 4, hinted that the report, which examines the alleged involvement of the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, was presented on Monday to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.

The committee’s chairman, Barrister Aminu Hussain, stated that the investigation was “thorough, impartial, and evidence-based.”

Hussain said the committee consulted several security and legal bodies, such as the State Security Service (SSS), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), to ensure a comprehensive process.

He also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a “hands-off approach” that allowed the committee to work independently.

Upon receiving the report, SSG Alhaji Farouk Ibrahim commended the committee for its professionalism and for completing the investigation within the given timeframe.

He assured the public that the report would be forwarded to the governor for “review and appropriate action” immediately.

The Kano State government is expected to review the findings and take the necessary steps based on the committee’s recommendations.

The outcome of the report is highly anticipated by the public due to the high-profile nature of the allegations.
