The Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum, Malam Dikko Radda, has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attack on worshippers at a mosque in Borno State.

Governor Radda condemned the incident as a cruel, senseless, and unacceptable assault on innocent people observing prayers, as well as an attack on the sanctity of places of worship.

In a statement issued on Saturday, December 27, by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor said the attack claimed several lives and injured others, leaving families and communities in profound grief.

He noted that every life lost represents a household in mourning and a community deeply traumatised by the tragedy.

Radda stressed that mosques, churches and all places of worship must always serve as centres of peace, reflection and devotion and should never become targets of violence.

He described such acts as painful and intolerable, adding that the incident highlights the urgent need for sustained national determination to combat terrorism and violent extremism in all forms.

The governor urged security agencies to intensify efforts to protect citizens and prevent further attacks, calling for stronger collaboration, improved intelligence gathering and the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

He also appealed to Nigerians to remain united, vigilant and supportive of security operations, emphasising that national solidarity remains vital in resisting forces that seek to spread fear and division.

Radda reaffirmed the commitment of Northern Governors to work closely with the Nigerian government to strengthen security structures and protect lives and property across the region.

He extended condolences to Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the government and people of the state, the bereaved families and those injured in the attack, while praying for eternal rest for the deceased and speedy recovery for the wounded.
