Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Tuesday signed into law the 2025 Supplementary Budget totalling ₦137 billion, shortly after its approval by the State House of Assembly.
The budget allocates ₦126.8 billion to capital projects and ₦10.2 billion to recurrent expenditure. It aims to sustain the administration’s robust infrastructure agenda and ensure the completion of ongoing projects across the state.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Governor Radda applauded the House of Assembly for its prompt passage of the bill. He explained that the supplementary budget became necessary after several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies exhausted their initial capital allocations due to the scale of ongoing developments.
Radda stated that most of the funds would be channelled towards the completion of infrastructure projects such as roads, hospitals, schools, water supply systems, and agricultural initiatives.
He assured residents that the supplementary budget would be executed transparently and in line with his administration’s principles of sound financial management.
“I commend the Honourable Speaker, Nasir Daura, and all members of the Katsina State House of Assembly for their swift legislative action on this important bill. Your dedication to our state’s progress is highly commendable,” Radda said.
During plenary, the House Leader, Shamsuddeen Dabai, described Governor Radda as one of the nation’s most effective governors, noting that the supplementary estimates arrived at a crucial time given the scope of completed and ongoing projects.
According to a statement by Ibrahim Mohammed, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, the budget was earlier referred to the Committee on Appropriations, whose report facilitated its smooth passage through the Assembly.
