Kenya Denies Deteriorating Relations with Neighbours, Emphasises Diplomatic Resolutions

The Foreign Minister of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi, has refuted reports of strained relations with neighbouring countries, asserting that recent disputes are being addressed through diplomatic channels.

Despite ongoing issues, such as a pending oil distribution case with Uganda and a recent air travel dispute settlement with Tanzania, Mudavadi emphasised the commitment to resolving disputes peacefully.

Earlier this month, Sudan recalled its envoy after Kenya hosted the head of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, engaged in a civil war with the Sudanese army. Additionally, in December, the Democratic Republic of Congo recalled its ambassador following the formation of a new coalition of Congolese rebels in Nairobi.

In a speech on Sunday, Mudavadi reassured, “Kenya is not at war with any of its neighbours,” emphasising the country’s dedication to championing peace in the region.
