Police in Nairobi have launched a search for a church caretaker alleged to have stolen Ksh1.5 Million which members raised to develop the church situated in Kangemi.

Police say the man broke into the ACK All Saints Mountain View church in Kangemi, on the outskirts of Nairobi, and stole the money from a vault.

An elder in the church and the treasurer were “shocked” when they went in on Monday morning to retrieve the money, only to find the church looted and the money missing, police said.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said their initial investigations showed the church caretaker as the main suspect.

“He is suspected to have tampered with the church’s electric power to disable the installed CCTV system before making away with the congregants’ contributions,” they said.
