Kenyan medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and clinical workers are all on strike over inadequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and benefits.
The doctors said it has become too dangerous for them to attend to COVID-19 patients without adequate protection.
On Monday, the doctors and pharmacists under the umbrella of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union with more than 7,000 members in the country commenced the industrial action and told the government to take quick actions.
The doctors also accused the Kenyan government of not giving them enough treatment when they are ill.
Nurses and clinical workers had commenced their strike action two weeks ago, with the nation’s health workers all on strike at the moment.
Health Minister, Mutahi Kagwe has threatened the health workers to return to work or risk being fired.
Since the East African country announced its first case in March, at least 14 leading physicians have died in the country.
Kenya has one of the highest number of COVID-19 cases at more than 94,000 and has recorded 1,644 deaths.
