The Kogi State Government has promised to make a revelation that will “shake the country” within the next 24 hours, amid increasing security concerns in the state.
Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, made this announcement on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme on Tuesday.
He said the government would soon address the nation, showcasing the efforts of Governor Usman Ododo in tackling insecurity in the state.
“We are closing in, and within the next 24 hours, we are going to address the nation to highlight the great efforts of His Excellency in ensuring security in Kogi State and Nigeria,” Fanwo stated.
Kogi has witnessed several security incidents in recent weeks, including attacks on churches.
A Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejigbo, Yaba West Local Government Area, was attacked during a service, and the pastor and his wife were kidnapped.

Another church, the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, was targeted last Sunday, with worshippers abducted and one person reportedly killed.
Fanwo said the state government was working tirelessly to secure the release of those abducted and stressed that Kogi, which shares borders with 10 states and the Federal Capital Territory, had seen an increase in criminal activity due to intensified security operations in neighbouring Niger and Kwara states.
“However, we are cutting their operations, cutting off their logistics and movement around the state. It has been very difficult for them,” he said.
The commissioner assured that the state government was committed to ensuring the safety of all residents, stating, “If not for the robust security architecture, Kogi would have been in a mess by now, but it is still very much under control.”
Fanwo highlighted that the Ododo administration had implemented a strong security framework that had reduced banditry in the state, averting many incidents.
“For every incident that occurred, we have averted about 30,” he added.
He further revealed that security agencies, including the army, police, and the Department of State Services, were actively pursuing the suspects in forested areas, insisting that Kogi was not a haven for criminal activities.
