The Kremlin has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments, stating that Russia’s military operation in Ukraine will continue.
Trump had called Russia a “paper tiger” with a failing economy, a significant shift in his position on the conflict.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Russia has “no alternative” but to continue its offensive to secure its national interests.
He pushed back against the “paper tiger” label but acknowledged that the Russian economy is facing some challenges.
Peskov also gave a pessimistic assessment of the progress in improving relations with the United States since Trump returned to office.
He described the efforts to repair ties between Moscow and Washington as “sluggish, very sluggish,” yielding almost no results.
