Former governor of Kano State and National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed concern over the current trend of opposition politicians switching allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
He labelled this trend as the gravest “political sin” and the highest form of treachery against the populace, asserting that those who defected are motivated by selfish interests.
“There is no worse political sin than leaving the party that gave you the opportunity and support, only to later abandon it. This is the highest level of betrayal.” He said
Kwankwaso said this during a gathering at his residence in Kano on Friday, where he welcomed numerous supporters of Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila from Takai Local Government, who chose not to accompany the senator to the APC.
Kawu, who serves as the representative for Kano South Senatorial District in the National Assembly and several other national and state lawmakers from the NNPP, recently defected to the APC.
He urged the youth to remain cautious of such politicians, who prioritise their interests over the welfare of the people.
The former governor expressed gratitude to the NNPP members for their bravery in staying loyal to the party, stating that all who have turned their backs on the Kwankwasiyya Movement will ultimately regret their decisions.
