Kyrgios Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Australian Open

Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from a charity exhibition match against Novak Djokovic due to an abdominal strain, raising doubts about his fitness for the Australian Open, which starts on Sunday.

Kyrgios, who recently returned to tennis after an 18-month injury hiatus, cited a grade 1 abdominal strain following a medical scan. “I’ll be resting and doing everything I can to be OK by the Aus Open,” he posted on Instagram.

The 29-year-old, a fan favourite at the Melbourne event, reached his first Grand Slam singles final at Wimbledon in 2022 but has struggled to overcome injuries and maintain consistency in an era dominated by tennis legends Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.
