Senator Neda Imasuen, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, has announced his intention to leave the Labour Party (LP) and join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Senator representing Edo South, elected under the LP banner, plans to officially finalise his defection on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
On Sunday, during the celebration of his second anniversary as a Senator of the Federal Republic, Imasuen shared this news in Benin, attributing his switch to the turmoil within the LP.
He characterised his move as a tactical decision to better align Edo South with the government’s development goals outlined in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Imasuen enumerated his accomplishments, which include creating the Federal College of Education, introducing the Abudu Bill, and resolving more than 20 public petitions.
He also emphasised initiatives like vocational training programs, agricultural support services, training for traditional birth attendants in rural areas, and scholarships for students in his senatorial district.
The Senator strongly endorsed President Tinubu’s initiatives, highlighting the importance of enhanced collaboration with local governments.
