Lagos Deploys 500 Traffic Officers for Tinubu Visit

Authorities in Lagos have deployed 500 additional officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to key routes ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this on Monday during a news conference on the President’s commissioning of projects executed by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration.

During a press briefing, he said the move is aimed at maintaining traffic flow, strengthening security, and reducing disruptions for residents.

Omotoso said arrangements are being carefully synchronised to guarantee a secure and well-organised visit, while limiting the impact on daily activities across the city.

“We are working closely with federal and state agencies to ensure that all arrangements for the President’s visit are seamless, secure, and befitting of the occasion.

“Security, logistics, and traffic management plans are being carefully coordinated to minimise disruptions to daily activities while ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants,” he said

General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, also confirmed that the agency has finalised plans to deploy additional personnel along major highways and routes linked to the President’s itinerary.

He noted that the officers will be responsible for managing traffic and easing congestion in affected areas during the visit.

According to him, the deployment forms part of a wider inter-agency strategy designed to ensure the smooth execution of scheduled project inaugurations and minimise inconvenience to commuters.

Other officials present at the briefing included Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya; Special Advisers on Works and Infrastructure, Adekunle Olayinka and Femi Daramola; as well as the Governor’s media aide, Gboyega Akosile.
