Large Crowd Gathers for Anthony Joshua Friends’ Funeral

Large crowds gathered on Sunday at the London Central Mosque as funeral prayers were held for two close friends of British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, who died in a road accident in Nigeria.

Mourners filled the mosque and surrounding areas as coffins carrying the remains of Latif “Latz” Ayodele and Sina Ghami arrived ahead of the janaza prayers. Both men were members of Joshua’s inner training circle.

Ayodele, Joshua’s long-time trainer, and Ghami, his strength and fitness coach, were killed on December 29, 2025, in a crash on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Ogere in Ogun State. Joshua was also in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries.

Police and eyewitnesses said the SUV veered off the road and struck a stationary truck. Emergency responders confirmed that Ayodele and Ghami died at the scene, while Joshua was taken to a private hospital in Lagos, treated and later discharged.

The bodies of the two men were flown to the United Kingdom earlier in the week, following arrangements made by families and representatives of the British High Commission.
