Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is set to miss the Clasico against Real Madrid after suffering a hamstring injury during Poland’s World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday.
The 37-year-old forward has been diagnosed with a muscle tear in the biceps femoris of his left thigh, Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday. Spanish media report that Lewandowski could be sidelined for four to six weeks, meaning he will also miss Champions League matches against Olympiakos and Club Brugge.
Barcelona will face La Liga leaders Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26 without Lewandowski, while goalkeeper Joan Garcia and midfielder Dani Olmo are also expected to miss the fixture. Teenager Lamine Yamal has returned to training following a groin issue, providing a boost for the squad.
Meanwhile, Barcelona striker Ferran Torres left the Spain national team camp due to muscular discomfort, but the club confirmed he has not suffered an injury. Torres has been deputising as Barca’s starting forward in Lewandowski’s absence on multiple occasions this season.
