The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a two-week extension for the submission of individual annual tax returns, moving the deadline from April 1 to April 14, 2026.
This adjustment follows the standard statutory deadline of March 31.
According to LIRS Executive Chairman Dr Ayodele Subair, the extension is specifically designed to grant taxpayers additional time to ensure their filings are both complete and accurate.
Dr Subair emphasised that while the grace period is available, citizens should treat timely tax compliance as a vital personal routine. He further clarified that manual filing systems have been entirely phased out.
Consequently, all taxpayers must use the secure, 24/7 LIRS eTax portal (https://etax.lirs.net](https://etax.lirs.net)) to submit their returns.

Individuals are urged to double-check that their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly entered to avoid processing errors.
For those requiring technical assistance or further information, the LIRS has maintained several open support channels.
Taxpayers can reach out via their official website (www.lirs.gov.ng), social media handles (@lirsgovng), or by emailing [email protected].
Additionally, a dedicated customer care hotline (0700-2255-5477) and local LIRS offices remain available for direct enquiries.
