Veteran Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has signed a new contract with Inter Miami ahead of the upcoming Major League Soccer season, the club confirmed on Wednesday. Suarez, who will turn 39 in January, joined the side in 2024, linking up with fellow countryman Lionel Messi, and played a pivotal role in the team’s successful 2025 campaign.
During his second season with Inter Miami, Suarez helped the club secure both the MLS Cup and the Eastern Conference title, adding to his already illustrious career in Europe with Barcelona, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, where he won the Champions League, La Liga and the League Cup.
Inter Miami praised Suarez for his experience and leadership, highlighting his influence on the team’s achievements. In addition to domestic success, the club enjoyed an impressive run on the international stage, reaching the round of 16 at the revamped 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the semifinals of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
Suarez made 50 appearances across all competitions in 2025, contributing 17 goals and 17 assists, totalling 34 goal contributions. Inter Miami described his new contract as a continuation of a “historic” season that cemented his importance both on and off the pitch.
