Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has received a Certificate of Return after emerging as the consensus presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement for the 2027 general election, following the conclusion of the party’s presidential nomination process.

Makinde was presented with his Certificate of Return by APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Dantali, during a ceremony held in Ibadan on Saturday, attended by party leaders, delegates, supporters and political associates from across the country.

Presenting the certificate, Dantali said Makinde possesses the leadership qualities, experience, and vision needed to provide direction for the country.

He called on party members nationwide to rally behind the candidate and intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to the APM chairman, the party is committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative capable of addressing the nation’s socio-economic and governance challenges.

In his acceptance remarks, Makinde expressed appreciation to the party leadership and delegates for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to work with stakeholders across the country to advance the party’s vision and agenda.

Makinde’s emergence is being seen by party supporters as a significant development as political parties begin preparations and strategic positioning ahead of the next general elections.

The governor, who was re-elected for a second term in 2025, joins a growing list of opposition candidates, including President Bola Tinubu (APC), former President Goodluck Jonathan (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar (ADC), and Peter Obi (NDC), who have secured party tickets for the January 2027 presidential election.
