Malaysia’s centenarian former Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad, was admitted to the National Heart Institute on Tuesday following a fall at his home.
According to his aide, Sufi Yusoff, the incident occurred as Mahathir was moving between a balcony and the living room.
While he remains conscious and is currently under observation, it is unclear whether he will require a prolonged stay.

Mahathir, who celebrated his 100th birthday in July, has faced several health challenges recently, including a brief hospitalisation for exhaustion over the summer.
Having previously undergone heart bypass surgeries, his health is closely monitored.
Mahathir served two historic terms as Prime Minister and holds the distinction of being the world’s oldest elected leader during his second tenure.
