Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has reportedly agreed to a loan move to Everton for the 2025-26 season, as reported on Monday.
Grealish found himself sidelined by City manager Pep Guardiola last season, starting only seven matches in the Premier League. The 29-year-old was omitted from City’s squad for the Club World Cup in the United States amid rumours of his departure from the Etihad Stadium.
Everton has finalised a deal for Grealish, who is said to earn £300,000 ($402,000) weekly, just ahead of the new Premier League season, which kicks off for the Toffees against Leeds on August 18.
The England international transferred to City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a record British fee of £100 million.
Grealish has won three Premier League titles, a Champions League victory, and an FA Cup triumph with City, yet his performance has significantly declined since being pivotal in the 2022-23 treble-winning season.
His exclusion from England’s Euro 2024 squad left him feeling “heartbroken.”
Guardiola seldom selected Grealish last season, even during City’s difficult moments, and he found himself on the bench during the surprising FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace.
If Grealish passes his medical examination and finalises his move to Everton, he will have the opportunity to rejuvenate his stalled career and possibly secure a recall to the England squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Everton has recently moved from Goodison Park to their new Hill Dickenson stadium before the season begins, with Grealish expected to play a prominent role in the new venue.
He will be regarded as Everton’s major signing since the conclusion of last season, after a relatively quiet summer in the transfer market for manager David Moyes.
