A Cameroonian national has been arrested and charged in court for allegedly kidnapping a Nigerian girl under the guise of helping her join a football academy in Ghana.

The suspect, identified as Cesar Victorie Tsala, is reported to have lived in Ghana for over ten years. The 55-year-old is accused of unlawfully taking a 17-year-old girl and allegedly engaging in sexual relations with her for a year.

Confirming the incident, CAF Media Officer Ibrahim Saanie Daara shared details on his X (formerly Twitter) page, warning parents to remain vigilant. He urged them “not [to] fall for schemes claiming to offer paying academy places for their wards. Report such offers to the police.”

The case comes shortly after a separate tragedy involving a Senegalese teenager, Cheikh Touré, who lost his life in Ghana after being deceived with a fake football academy offer.

Touré, a promising goalkeeper, was reportedly found dead in Kumasi following an encounter with individuals believed to be fraudsters posing as football scouts.
