Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada says the club’s latest financial figures demonstrate “strong progress” in its ongoing efforts to reshape the organisation.

On Thursday, the Premier League side reported an operating profit of £13 million ($17.4 million) for the three months to September 30—a sharp turnaround from the £6.9 million loss recorded over the same period last year.

Total revenue for the first quarter of the 2026 financial year slipped by two per cent to £140.3 million, reflecting the absence of European football for the men’s team, who currently sit sixth in the league under manager Ruben Amorim.

The women’s side, led by Marc Skinner, are third in the Women’s Super League and continue to compete in the Women’s Champions League.

Berrada said the figures underscored the “resilience” of the club as it pushes ahead with significant restructuring.

“The difficult decisions we’ve made over the past year have delivered a more sustainable cost base and a leaner, more efficient organisation capable of driving long-term sporting and commercial improvement,” he said.

The financial statement noted that the club is still feeling the effects of cost-reduction and headcount-cutting measures introduced last year.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was behind a series of sweeping — and at times controversial — austerity steps, including substantial staff redundancies.

Employee benefit expenses for the quarter totalled £73.6 million, down £6.6 million compared with the previous year, largely due to job cuts.

United reiterated that they remain on course to achieve revenues of between £640 million and £660 million for the 2026 fiscal year.
