Manchester City have officially appointed Italian coach Enzo Maresca as their new manager, marking the start of a new era at the Etihad Stadium following the departure of Pep Guardiola’s tenure.
Maresca, 46, has signed a three-year contract that ties him to the club until the summer of 2029, giving him a long-term mandate to lead one of Europe’s most dominant sides. His return is also a familiar one, with the Italian noting that this will be his “third spell here,” underscoring his existing relationship with the club’s structure and philosophy.
Speaking after his unveiling, Maresca described the opportunity as both significant and demanding.

“Manchester City is a club I know very well, and to have the chance to manage this team is a brilliant opportunity for me,” he said. He added that City’s internal structure played a major role in his decision
“City is an incredibly well-run football club. Everything they do is innovative, planned and purposeful. For a manager, that is a dream situation,” he added.
The former Leicester City boss, who also managed Chelsea in the Premier League, emphasised continuity and familiarity as key advantages in his new role. He said his previous experiences around the club would help him adapt quickly to expectations at the highest level.
“The quality of the people who work here is what makes it so special, and I want to thank them for showing faith in my ability,” Maresca said, highlighting the human and professional environment at City.
