Marmoush Shines as Frankfurt Closes Gap on Bayern with 4-0 Victory

Omar Marmoush delivered a standout performance on Sunday, netting twice as Eintracht Frankfurt secured a dominant 4-0 win against Heidenheim. The victory narrowed the gap to league leaders Bayern Munich to just four points, following Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Marmoush, who has been in exceptional form this season, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after connecting with a precise Nathaniel Brown pass and calmly finishing on the counterattack. The Egyptian forward doubled his tally early in the second half, bringing his Bundesliga total to 13 goals in 12 games, just one shy of Harry Kane at the top of the scoring charts. Marmoush also leads the league with seven assists this campaign, highlighting his all-around contribution.

Fares Chaibi added Frankfurt’s second goal before Marmoush’s decisive strike in the 58th minute effectively sealed the win. French forward Hugo Ekitike rounded off the rout with a stoppage-time goal, his sixth of the season, putting the finishing touches on a stellar team performance.

Frankfurt now sits second in the Bundesliga standings, trailing Bayern by four points and leading third-placed Bayer Leverkusen by three. Leverkusen secured their win on Saturday, defeating Union Berlin away from home.

Meanwhile, Heidenheim’s struggles continued. Days after a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Europa Conference League, they remain in the relegation play-off spot, sitting third from the bottom in the Bundesliga table.

Frankfurt’s next challenge comes on Wednesday when they face RB Leipzig, a two-time German Cup winner, in the competition’s next round.

Earlier on Sunday, Jonathan Burkardt scored twice in the first half to help Mainz climb to seventh place with a 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim. The German forward’s brace ensured Mainz continued their solid start to the campaign.
