A preliminary court hearing sought by Paris Saint-Germain over a ruling issued by the French football league (LFP) in its dispute with Kylian Mbappé has been fixed for February 23, a source close to the matter told AFP on Tuesday.

This latest development runs alongside a separate and highly contentious legal battle between Mbappé and his former club. That case, heard before a French labour court last week, saw the France international demand €263 million in compensation, while PSG counter-claimed, insisting the forward should pay them €440 million. A verdict in that dispute is expected on 16 December.

The February hearing concerns the origins of the row in September 2024, when Mbappé—who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer after seven years at PSG—claimed €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses. The LFP ordered PSG to settle the sum, and its joint appeals commission upheld the decision in October 2024.

PSG refused to comply and instead launched legal action against the LFP in the Paris judicial court, challenging both rulings. In response, the LFP’s disciplinary committee and subsequently the French Football Federation’s appeals body declared themselves not competent to deal with the club’s appeal.

The upcoming hearing will examine the legal basis of the case, with a full hearing likely to follow weeks later. PSG declined to comment when approached by AFP.

Meanwhile, a separate investigation into alleged psychological harassment remains open, despite Mbappé withdrawing his complaint in July. The 26-year-old had initially filed the claim in June, alleging he was isolated from the main squad and made to train with unwanted players after refusing to sign a contract extension.
