Militants Kill 17 Villagers in Eastern D.R Congo

Not less than 17 villagers were killed by militants in Eastern Democratic Republic Congo on Friday.

Local authorities in the country confirmed that the act was perpetrated by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a Ugandan armed group. The daredevil group, ADF is one of the most devastating in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Authorities said the pattern of the deaths and attack pointed fingers at the ADF, although more substantial evidence is yet to be seen.

According to the United Nations, at least 1,000 people have been killed in attacks orchestrated by the ADF in two years.

Congo D.R, bordered to the East by Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi, has suffered multiple attacks from various militias, who are mostly offshoots of the civil war in the country in the early 2000s.

Another worrisome group in the region is the I.S, who are believed to be working in close ranks with the ADF.

The militias have affected security in the region with many locals leaving for safer places to guarantee their safety.
