Mixed Martial Arts fighter Conor McGregor has been ordered to pay the legal costs of Nikita Hand, the woman who won a civil action against him last month in a Dublin court over a rape allegation. Justice Alexander Owens ruled that McGregor should cover the full costs of the 12-day trial, which have been estimated at approximately 1.5 million euros ($1.58 million).
In November, a jury at Dublin’s High Court awarded Nikita Hand, 35, damages of 248,603 euros ($258,559) after she accused McGregor of brutally raping and battering her in a hotel in December 2018. The 36-year-old sports star, however, maintained that the encounter was consensual.
Although the jury sided with Hand on the rape accusation, she lost a separate assault lawsuit involving another man.
Following the verdict, Conor McGregor, one of the most prominent figures in UFC history, expressed his intent to appeal the case in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). He has been involved in several legal battles but remains determined to challenge the case’s outcome.
This ruling further complicates McGregor’s legal troubles, following years of high-profile controversies inside and outside the octagon.
