Alvaro Morata is on the verge of leaving AC Milan after the Turkish champions Galatasaray confirmed on Sunday that negotiations have begun for his loan transfer. In a brief statement, Galatasaray announced: “Official negotiations have begun for the loan of Alvaro Morata.”
The Spain captain, 32, has endured a difficult spell at Milan, where he arrived from Atletico Madrid last summer as a replacement for Olivier Giroud. However, he has managed just six goals in 24 appearances across all competitions, failing to meet expectations.
Milan, currently eighth in Serie A, are set to announce the signing of Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord for a reported fee of €32 million ($33 million). The Mexican forward arrived in Italy on Saturday night to complete his transfer, signaling a fresh start in attack for the Rossoneri.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray, who lead the Turkish Super Lig by six points over city rivals Fenerbahce, are looking to bolster their squad for a strong domestic and European campaign.
