The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that one of its C-130 transport aircraft made a precautionary landing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, on Monday, following a technical concern detected shortly after takeoff from Lagos.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, explained that the aircraft was en route to Portugal on a ferry mission when the crew observed an issue requiring an immediate diversion to the nearest suitable airfield. The move, according to the Air Force, was carried out in line with international aviation protocols and standard operational safety procedures.
NAF said all crew members are safe and were warmly received by Burkinabe authorities upon landing.
“Plans are ongoing to resume the mission as scheduled,” the statement noted, adding that the Force remains committed to strict adherence to safety standards and the protection of its personnel during all operations.
The Air Force also expressed appreciation for Burkina Faso’s support during the incident and reassured the public of its professionalism in fulfilling its constitutional duties.
