The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another operational success following a coordinated air interdiction at Abbaga Jiri in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State.
In a statement on Saturday, January 10, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was based on credible intelligence from multiple sources confirming the presence of terrorists, their hideouts, and concealed logistics facilities in the area.
He said the intelligence prompted the deployment of NAF air assets for integrated surveillance and precision strike missions against the identified targets.

According to the statement, the operation was carefully planned to weaken terrorist capabilities, deny them havens, and support ground forces, while strictly observing rules of engagement and protecting civilians.
Reacting to the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the outcome highlighted the Air Force’s resolve to maintain air superiority in support of joint military operations.
Aneke said the mission demonstrated the NAF’s commitment to delivering accurate and decisive air power to assist ground troops, stressing that the force would continue to restrict terrorists’ movement, sanctuary and access to logistics.
He stated that the air strikes successfully destroyed targeted terrorist structures, significantly reducing their operational capacity, while a follow-up strike neutralised armed fighters attempting to regroup in the area.
According to him, subsequent advances by ground troops confirmed the effectiveness of the air operation and validated the success of the joint air and land assault.
Reaffirming the NAF’s position, Aneke said the force would sustain intelligence-led operations until terrorist networks are completely dismantled, while ensuring the safety of innocent civilians.
