NDLEA Arrests Fugitive Cleric over Drug Trade

After several months of living abroad to avoid capture, the founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele (also known as Abbas Ajakaiye), has been apprehended by officials from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for orchestrating numerous shipments of illegal drugs into Nigeria.

Prophet Adefolusho was taken into custody at his church situated in Okun Ajah, along Ogombo road, Lekki area of Lagos on Sunday, August 3, 2025, by NDLEA agents who had been waiting for him since morning to finish the Sunday worship service in the evening, before moving in to apprehend him as soon as he exited the church grounds.

His arrest followed two previous escapes and his flight to Ghana for concealment since June, when law enforcement began monitoring him after the seizure of two shipments of Ghana Loud, a type of cannabis associated with him.
