The deplorable condition of the LEA Primary School, Yangoji in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is denying thousands of children the right to quality education.

A civil society organisation (CSO) that monitors public projects, Tracka, revealed the grim condition of the school after a recent visit in a statement shared on X on Wednesday.

Pictures of the school, seen by News Central, depict an educational facility that is unfit and unsafe for learning.

“As each part of LEA Primary School collapses, the future of 3,600 children hangs in the balance.  At LEA Primary School, Yangoji in Kwali Area Council, FCT, over 3600 pupils are learning under dangerously deteriorating buildings,” Tracka noted.

“For over two years, the school building has been left with damaged roofs, broken classrooms, and unsafe learning spaces. Half the time, pupils are scared the building will collapse on them. This is a community of about 9,500 residents, yet this is the only accessible public primary school.”

According to Tracka, the collapse of one of the blocks has forced pupils from primary one and two to share the same space, leading to severe overcrowding, with over 600 pupils in each class.

The CSO appealed to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike; the FCT Senator, Ireti Kingibe; and the Ministry of Education to renovate the school and provide the children with a suitable learning environment.
